My Daughter

Tonight I was reading to my 5 year old daughter, kaity. She is so cool. She has such a heart for Christ and understands so much more than most of the christians I know. I now know what Jesus meant when He said we must have faith of the children or we will never get to Heaven. The children know about dependence and love. Maybe we need to learn the same.

"The children know about dependence and love."
indeed they do and I wonder how much (or shall I perhaps say how little) I understand love .. Im so outragously immature in this area .. i think that part of it is that I dont have the constant object lesson of a marriage to teach me but I think that it goes back to ill placed affections ... see, children love Jesus. (Period) they love that He saved them and they know that he loves them. Conversely, I love Christ, (comma) or at least parts of this love ... but loving Christ is not different than loving a person, a friend, a wife etc .. sometimes love sucks and it hurts and its hard and its a choice and you feel like giving up and its your fault its their fault you dont care but it just isnt the way you seemed to plan in in those Pain-by-number fantasies of your youth... if you think Im talking about suffering in the Christian faith then youre catching a fraction of the weight of these words .. suffering will end .. im talking about loving God .. even when the passion isnt there .. even on an off day .. even if you dont feel it .. and being satisfied in this love and, like a child, taking God at his words and smiling when he talls you that He loves you and is well pleased with you ... but knowing that the Spirit may lead you into the wilderness the very next moment to be tempted .. still love him? .. not so frilly .. not good for a bumper sticker .. if we love Him we obey His commandments .. so like a child "we need to learn the same [love]" (quoting Kev's post, see the top line)
